David Clarke fastest in evening time trial


Due to the cancellation of the BDCA 50mile time trial Noel Adams decided to go to Darley Moor to race in the 58 kilometre road race for 2nd, 3rd & 4th category riders. A break of 10 riders went away early in the race. Noel decided to try a solo break away to catch them which he failed to do so. He finished in 11th place just ahead of the main peloton. The winner was William Penn (Mammoth Lifestyle RT)

The latest Mallory Park Road Race League event for 3rd & 4th category riders over 55 km was ridden by Peter Collins & Simon Parker. Simon & Peter both made a number of attempts to break away without success. They both finished in the top ten placings in the finishing sprint.

David Clarke (Pendragon Colnago) finished in 13th position in the Belmont Trophy Premier Road Race at Stamfordham near Newcastle on Tyne. The highest placed Pendragon Colnago rider in the171 km race held in very wet conditions. The winner was Olympic cyclist Chris Newton (Rapha Condor Sharp).

The previous evening Clarke finished 16th in the Lease Park Criterium in Newcastle. The race was part of the Northern Rock Cyclone Festival. The winner Jack Bauer (Endura RT) lapped the field.

A fine evening attracted 17 cyclists to compete in the evening time trial on the Anslow circuit, with David Clark the fastest by over 2 minutes .The times were as follows: David Clarke (Pendragon Colnago) 22 05, Noel Adams 24 06, Christian Aucote (Moda Bikes) 24 38, Sean Sleigh 24 39, Matt Simons 24 52, Jack Hugill 25 15, Phil Machin 25 37, Ryan Clarke (Birmingham CC) 27 20, Craig Tucker 27 24, Jeff Slinn 27 28, Ben Startin 27 35, Mick Abbott 28 15, Tony Marlow 28 16, Nick Marriott 29 36, Andy Burton 30 31, Graham Dingley (Burton Athletic Club) 30 55 & at one lap Dave Peters 18 13.
