Despite the ice & snow the Waters family compete in Round 11 of the Notts & Derby Cyclo Cross League at Great LongstoneThe Waters family Cyclo Cross team drove through heavy snow between Ashbourne & Buxton to get to the 11th round of the Notts & Derby Cyclo Cross League races at Thornbridge Outdoor Educational Centre near Great Longstone promoted by Matlock Cycling Club.
The first race was for the under 10’s & it was really a hard slog getting through the snow & long grass for the younger riders. Elliot got to grips with the conditions to finish a hard earned 5th. The winner was Tim Elsmore (Matlock CC). 23 finished the race, a lot didn’t finish due to the hard conditions.
Following on from the under 10’s was the under 12’s race. Joshua held the lead for two laps, then he was caught & passed by William Gascoyne (Heanor Clarion) to win the race. Joshua finished 100 yards behind for 2nd place. 10 year old Bailey finished 6th (2nd in his age group).
The hour-long senior race was a real slog in the ice & snow, making it difficult to change gears. Justin was 75th & Adrian 83rd. The race was won by the Yorkshire Dales three peaks winner Nick Craig (Team Scott uk)
