Mercia Report 27-12-09

Round 10 of the Notts & Derby Cyclo Cross League was very cold & slippery at Alvaston Park Derby.The Waters family team were again competing in the event.

Despite a cold Elliot finished 7th in the under 10’s. There were 36 finishers. John Webster (Matlock CC) was again the winner.

In the under 12’s Joshua finished an excellent 2nd beating Elliot Dudley (Sherwood Pines) by half a lap, but Joshua was a lap down on the winner William Gascoyne (Heanor Clarion). Bailey finished in 7th place.

Justin Waters finished 76th (his best placing yet) in the seniors race. Adrian Waters was 99th. All those who the finished the race won a Christmas pudding. The winner was Derby cyclist Jamie Harris (Cult Racing).

The Midlands Area Championships were held at Dudley. Elliot finished in 14th place in the under 10’s a good ride considering he was one of the youngest riders in the race out of 55 finishers. The winner was Mathew Shaw (Solihull CC). In the under 12’s Joshua finished a solid 10th out 47 finishers. Charlotte Broughton (Leicester RC) finished 2nd after leading for the first 3 laps but was eventually caught by the winner William Gascoyne (Heanor Clarion).
