Annual General Meeting & Round 9 of the Notts & Derby Cyclo Cross leagueThe Mercia HBM Cycling Club held it’s 43rd AGM at the Shobnall Sports Social Club. The club looked back on another good year with the well-supported evening club time trials. The club promoted another very successful West Midlands League Cyclo Cross with over 300 riders competing, The BDCA 100 mile time trial & an open 25-mile time trial, plus joint organisation of the Midland Veterans 25 mile time trial & two 100-kilometre Reliability Trials. Well-supported Sunday Club runs were held throughout the year.
Officials elected were President Ian Hill, additional Vice President Nick Marriott, Chairman Les Lowe, and Vice Chairman Peter Rose, Secretary & Treasurer Tony Marlow, Racing Secretary Keith Staley, Touring Secretary Simon Parker, Publicity Secretary Peter Rose, Committee members Ken Goy, Roger Owen, Keith Lee, Nick Marriott, Richard Knott & Kieran Patterson.
Round 9 of the Notts & Derby Cyclo Cross League once again saw the Waters Father & Sons team riding in the Derby Mercury event at Sinfin Park. Father Justin was happy with 89th finishing position out of the 105 riders who completed the 1-hour seniors race won by Ben Eedy (Empella Cyclo Cross Team). In the under 10’s Elliot improved to 4th place. The winner was again John Webster (Matlock CC). There were 39 finishers. Another strong ride by Joshua in the under12’s saw him finish 3rd. His younger brother Bailey was .William Gascoyne (Heanor Clarion) was again the winner.
