Mercia Report 29-11-09

Five members of the Waters family supported the Notts & Derby Cyclo Cross League round 8 organised by the Beauvale Cycling Club & held at Bulwell Hill Park in Nottinghamshire.

In the under 12’s race Joshua finished 3rd, pipped on the finishing line for second place by Sherwood Pines Elliot Dudley. Bailey Waters finished 5th, his best ride so far this season. William Gascoyne (Heanor Clarion) was again the winner out of 15 finishers.

Seven year old Elliott finished 3rd in the under 10’s on a very slippery course for young riders. The race was won John Webster (Matlock CC).

Father Justin finished a creditable 87th out of 111 finishers. Grandfather Adrian retired when he crashed into a tree. The winner was Jamie Harris (Cult Racing).

The previous weekend in the National Trophy Cyclo Cross Round 4 organised by Rugby Velo at Mallory Park Joshua Waters finished 6th (after falling off). His brother Bailey finished 9th. There were 25 finishers. The talented Charlotte Broughton (Leicestershire RC) was the winner.
