David Clarke finishes 7th in Premier Road Race. The Waters Family compete in their latest Cyclo Cross. Plus Local riders complete Reliability Trials
David Clarke is getting in some form for the on coming hill climb season by finishing an excellent seventh in the Richmond Grand Prix in North Yorkshire. The final Premier Road Race for this year. The 135 kilometre race went over the climbs of Butter Tubs & Scarth Nick. 110 riders started the race. The eight man break also containing local rider Robin Sharman from Repton was the winning break with Sharman 8th & Clarke 7th. The winner was Russell Downing ( Pinarello RT ) his brother Dean ( Rapha Condor ) was second.

Stone Wheelers 25 mile time trial held on the Blyth Bridge Sudbury & return course saw Matt Simon's competing to time 1 00 41 to finish 64th out of an entry of 105 riders. The fastest time recorded was done by Andy Jackson ( Pedal sport Giant ) in 50 08.

The third Notts & Derby League Cyclo Cross was held at Shipley Park and again the Waters family were out in force. In the under 10 years old race of 50 entrants 8 year old Bailey finished third. 6 year old Elliot did well to finish 18th considering he was involved in a major pile up at the start & was in 48th position on the first lap. The race was won by Ben Turner ( Harworth Hurricanes ). Joshua in the under 12's race was 6th. The winner was Arthur Green ( Matlock CC ) . The boys father Justin did well to finish 75th in the 100 rider Senior race, considering he was over geared in the porridge like sections of the course. The winner was Geoff Beetham (Retrobike co.uk)

The Derby District Association of the Cyclist's Touring Club held it's annual Reliability Trials of 100 miles in 8 hours & 50 in 4 hours starting from Markeaton Park. The first 50 miles took the riders out to Bramshall via Hilton Tutbury & Marchington then through Stramshall, Rocester, Sutton on the Hill & Etwall to Findern to to complete the first 50miles. The second 50 miles headed south east into Staffordshire via Repton, Woodville , Blackfordby, Netherseal & Clifton Campville to Harlaston then turning north west through Edingale, Catton Park, Barton under Needwood To Tatenhill. The final miles were through Rolleston & Hilton to Sutton on the Hill to join Long lane back to Markeaton Park. Local riders completing the 100 in 8 were Neil Platts, Terry Williams & Ian Hill. Those successful in the 50 in 4 were Richard Mottram,Ken Goy, John Toon & Derrick Orton.
