David Clarke suffers broken wrist in Tour of Hungary
David Clarke was again riding for the German Team Norland Hamburg in the 5 day 600 mile Tour of Hungary. On the 2nd stage David punctured, he restarted with a commissaries car between him and the leading break, unfortunately the the commissar went the wrong way. Clarke realised the error, on turning round he was run into by the 80 strong peleton, knocking him off his bike. He remounted, after falling on his wrist and finished the 100mile stage. An X-ray at the local hospital showed he had broken his wrist, thus resulting in him having to withdraw from the race & returning to the UK.

Peter Rose was one of 112 riders in the Birmingham & Midland Veterans 10 mile open time trial on the Salford Priors Alcester course on the Warwickshire Worcestershire border. Despite a very warm day he recorded his fastest ten mile time of the year in 29 26. The winner was Richard Bradley (Shorter Rochford RT) in 20 04.

Fourteen riders rode in excellent warm conditions in the latest 10 mile evening time trial on the Anslow circuit. The time trial was also a handicap event. Sean Sleigh (Plan B) was again the fastest in 23 25. Mercia HBM rider Steve Plummer was 2nd in 24 20 & 3rd was Keith Staley in 25 19. Only one second behind was Daniel Partington (Plan B) in 25 20. The rest of the times were Simon Parker 25 52, Phil Jones 26 38, Alec Taylor 27 43, Mark Eccleston 28 02, Mark Ward 28 10, Colin Johnson 29 11, Phil Knott 30 09, Peter Rose 33 27 & at 1 lap Dave Peters 17 46. Adrian Waters was a non finisher with gear problems.

The first three riders on handicap were: Phil Knott 21 09. Peter Rose 21 27 and Mark Eccleston 21 32.
