BDCA 25 mile TT

25 MILE TIME TRIAL HELD ON SUNDAY 20th APRIL 2008 A25 / 11

It was panic stations as I learnt that there had been an accident at the island where the A511 leaves the A50 at Foston & traffic was being diverted along the old A50 through Hatton & Hilton. A lorry had shed it’s load of coffee beans on it’s way to the Nestle factory at Hatton. I drove down to the island to find the Balfour Beatty crew were in the process of sweeping up the coffee beans & they would have the road open again by the time the riders came back from Uttoxeter. Panic over (who would be an organiser?)

The event proceeded on time in wet & windy conditions with 14 non starters including Joe Murray from Hinckley CRC who had unfortunately suffered a rear wheel puncture. Forty nine riders entered the event. Finishing times were quite good as the wind had decreased some what compared with Saturday & it was more of an easterly cross wind on the return leg from Uttoxeter.12 riders were under the hour with the man on form James Perkins winning by over 2mins.
