Mercia H.B.M riders compete in Burton & District Cycling Alliance 2-up Time-trial.
Three Mercia H.B.M riders competed in the B.D.C.A 2-up 25 mile Time-trial on the hilly Griffydam, Long Watton, Diseworth circuit promoted by Coalville Wheelers. 36 teams entered the event. Matt Simons teamed up with Phil Machin to time 1:08:39, and Oliver Beddows teamed up with work mate Steve Burns (Wyre Forest C.C) to time 1:11:37 on their training bikes. Their finishing positions were 25th & 26th respectively. The winners were Stefan Rick & James Perkins (Zenith C.C) in 56:25.
David Clarke continues to race as unsponsored rider at this point in time with some top placings in Elite races in the U.K. In the Clayton Velo Spring Classic held at Bashall Eaves in Lancashire, held over 87 km, he finished in 7th position at 20 seconds behind the winner Ian Stannard (100% ME R.T). He went one place better in the Jack Grainger Memorial Race at Middleton in Northamptonshire when he finished 6th in the 60 mile race won by Roy Chamberlain (Alpha R.C).
This coming Tuesday will see the start of the evening time-trials with a 5 mile event on the Anslow circuit, sign on at Shobnall Sports & Social Club by 18:30 hours.
