Hello all, I have just added a Calendar Of Events page. You may also notice that the page uses Google’s Calendar service, which makes it very easy to create and update events. If you have your own account with Google, you can also add events to your own calendar, allowing you to keep in sync with any forthcoming events at the Mercia Cycling Club.

FOUR RIDERS SUPPORT CHRISTMAS TIME-TRIAL
The Annual Manchester & District Time Trial Association Christmas 10 mile event was supported by four local riders at Byley in Cheshire. On the competitive side Ann Staley (Plan B R.C.) was the fastest lady in 31:43. Roger Owen timed 30:44 The winning time of 23:40 was done by ex-champion rower Tristan Barnes (Will’s Wheels). In the Christmas Fancy dress event Les Lowe & Greta Spires were in the prizes on their tandem tricycle dressed to the theme “Fleeing from Herod”.
David Clarke (Team Nippo KFS) finished 19th in the Senior Midland Area Cyclo-cross Championship held at the Hagley Park Sports Centre at Rugeley. Clarke was 7 minutes behind the winner Daniel Booth (Pedal Power R.T.) over 12 miles.

I am very sad to write this tribute to Jeff. Warren whose funeral took place on the 29th December 2006 at Bretby Crematorium. The popularity of Jeff was born out by the large number of people who came along to pay their respects. Jeff was another well known cyclist & a member of the Mercia HBM Cycling Club & had been racing up till the end of 2005 despite suffering a collapsed lung, after two previous unsuccessful attempts to get the lung functioning again. The surgeon at Glenfield hospital carried out a successful operation this time, but complications set in causing his untimely death at the age of 73.
