BEDDOWS BROTHERS OVERALL WINNERS AT ANDOVER

Another successful weekend at Andover saw Pete & Robert Beddows finish first & third in the tandem 25 & 10 mile time-trials respectively, to clinch the overall prize over the two events. In the twenty-five they timed 52:32, and in the ten they timed 20:07 to finish in third place. The winners were Andrew Gilles & Paul Holdsworth (Hounslow & District Wheelers in 19:28.

Oliver Beddows riding the solo events timed 21:32 in the ten, won by Steve Walkling (A3 CRG) in 19:17, and in the twenty five in foggy conditions he timed 56:27, to finish in 20th place. Ben Instone (A3 CRG) was fastest in 50:33.

On the same weekend three members entered the Birmingham & Midlands Veterans 10 mile time trial on the Salford Priors Alcester course in Warwickshire, both Peter Rose & Keith Malcolm recorded their best times this year by getting under 30 mins, Peter timed 29:42 & Keith 29:49 (a personal best). Ken Goy was a non starter due to a rear wheel puncture riding to the start. The winning time of 21:27 was by Stephen Price (St John’s Worcester C.C.).

Ivor James did his best time for 3 years when he timed 26:01 in the Team Midland ten mile time-trial event at Meriden. Tim Wallace (Arctic Shorter Rochford) won the event timing 21:28.

David Clarke (Team Nippo) keeping himself fit for the hill climb season finished 7th in South Pennine Road Club’s Cyclo Cross held at Allestree Park. Richard Knott also competed finishing in 70th position out of 100 riders who completed the race. Dan Collins (Scott U.K.) was the winner.
