BEDDOWS BROTHERS OVERALL WINNERS AT ANDOVER
Another successful weekend at Andover saw Pete & Robert Beddows finish first & third in the tandem 25 & 10 mile time-trials respectively, to clinch the overall prize over the two events. In the twenty-five they timed 52:32, and in the ten they timed 20:07 to finish in third place. The winners were Andrew Gilles & Paul Holdsworth (Hounslow & District Wheelers in 19:28.
Oliver Beddows riding the solo events timed 21:32 in the ten, won by Steve Walkling (A3 CRG) in 19:17, and in the twenty five in foggy conditions he timed 56:27, to finish in 20th place. Ben Instone (A3 CRG) was fastest in 50:33.

The Beddows family recently attended the annual Weyhill Weekend near Andover. A two day cycling time-trial event encompassing a 10 mile time-trial on the Saturday and a 25 mile time-trial on the Sunday.

I have uploaded some photos of Pete and Robert Beddows riding tandem on the P613/25 event in 2005. On this day they came 2nd with a time of 55:57.

I currently work for a distributor of bicycles parts & accessories. Recently we recently had a visit from Giant UK. Here are some pictures of Andreas Klöden’s time-trial bike complete with the new Tektro time-trial specific brake caliper!

Robert and Pete Beddows have designed and developed their own carbon time-trial frame. The project is still ongoing, but I have uploaded some photos of their forthcoming dream machine!

COMEBACK RIDER IVOR JAMES WINS BEST IMPROVEMENT TIME IN 10 MILE TIME-TRIAL
Ivor James has made a late season comeback to racing, when the time of 26 minutes 27 seconds was fast enough to earn him the best improvement prise with a plus of 1 minute 22 seconds on a fairly hard day, in the Leamington C & A.C. 10 mile time-trial on the Princethorpe course in Warwickshire. Simon Parker also rode timing 26:35. The winning time was done by the unseeded rider Scott Povey (Shirley R.C.) in 21:15.
In the Newport (Salop) C.C. 25 mile time trial James timed 1:09:23 & Matt. Simons 1:03:40 on the out & back A41 between the village of Sandbrook & the M54 motorway island. Oliver Jones (A.P.I. Metrow) the current 12 hr champion was the fastest in 54:19.

A WIN FOR DAVID CLARKE IN THE JOHN HINKSMAN MEMORIAL RACE & LOCAL CYCLIST`S COMPLETE TOURIST TRIALS
Since returning to the U.K. David Clark (Team Nippo K.F.S.) has been first & highly placed in two other events. In the Recycling. co.uk. League Road Race held at Winmarleigh in Lancashire he was fourth in the 77 mile race, in the same time as the winner Mark Wordsworth (J. E. James R.T.) in 3 hours 9 minutes 57 seconds. The Notts. & Derby Cyclo Cross League round one event saw Clarke finish 5th at Sinfin Moor Park Derby. First in the 6 lap race was Jim Bryan (Ace R.T.) in 50 min 25 seconds. The race David won was the John Hinksman memorial race held on the Darley Moor circuit near Ashbourne over 55 km & promoted by Ashfield R.C.
On the Audax scene Jim Hopper (Derby Mercury R.C.) & Ian Hill (Mercia H.B.M. C.C.) completed a 600 km unassisted audax ride from Southport to Keswick, Scarborough & back to Southport. The ride took in climbs in three National Parks, the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales & North Yorkshire Moors. Headwinds & torrential showers made the return leg harder. The duo finished the ride in 35 hours.

MEMBERS RACING RESULTS IN OPEN 25 & 10 MILE TIME-TRIALS & FINAL 5 MILE EVENING TIME-TRIAL ON THE ANSLOW CIRCUIT
All three of the Beddows family were racing in the Beauvale Cycling Club’s 25 mile time-trial held at Carlton on Trent in Nottinghamshire. Oliver was the fastest of the trio in 57:20, followed by his uncle Peter in 58:40 & father Robert was just over the hour in 1:00:31. Matt. Bottrill (De Rosa R.T.) winner of medals at both National 25 & 10 mile Championships was fastest in 50:31.
Leicester Forest Cycling Club held a 10 mile time-trial between Six Hills & Widmerpool on the A46 (The Fosse Way) Ken Goy & Peter Rose were two of the 101 entrants of the event Ken timed 28:45 & Peter 33:05. The winner was the in form Dave Barnes a member of the Wyre Forest Cycling club in 20:53.
